The Limits of Free Speech on Social Media

Abstract

The virtual environment is and has always been a challenge for law around the world, because the rights inherent to human beings are evidenced by the false sense of absence of duties, allowing greater commitment to excesses. The greatest possibility of committing these excesses resides in the free speech, enhancing the thoughts developed by the individual due to the absence of a filter caused by anonymity. However, there is a concern of the legal system in reaching this universe by imputing the responsibility of the citizen as it does in any other existing environment, thus emerging the need and convenience of censoring excesses, making the Internet an instrument increasingly regulated by the State and increasingly safer for the user.
