About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The Revista Jurídica do Ministério do Tocantins Journal aims to contribute to disseminate resulting knowledge based on good practices and legal understandings of the members of the institution. The Journal is also open to the publication of researchers from the juridic field and related areas of Applied Social Sciences.
A brief history
The journal first issue was published in December 2008, in native printed paper format for internal circulation for institutional staff. The Center for Studies and Functional Improvement/Centro de Estudos e Aperfeiçoamento Funcional is responsible for publishing the journal. The journal was distributed nationalwide to partner institutions. The current electronic edition is under the responsibility of the Center for Studies and Functional Improvement - Higher School of Public Office (CEAF-ESMP).
Peer Review Process
Articles received for publication in the Revista Jurídica will first be evaluated by its Scientific Editorial Board. Those who are outside the editorial criteria of the journal will be rejected, with the necessary explanations to the author in order for him resubmit the article to new evaluation.
Parallel with the evaluation, the article goes through a review to detects various types of plagiarism, indicating the address and the name of the plagiarized article. The editorial team checks the data. In the case of plagiarism, one paragraph is enough for the article to be returned to the author, indicating the problem. In the case of self-plagiarism, the maximum allowed is 10%. Anything above that, the article is returned, indicating the problem.
The Journal observes the The COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines (http://publicationethics.org/resources/guidelines).
The Journal Scientific Editorial Board will be evaluating whether the text fits within the scope of the journal and its editorial criteria. If not, it will be returned to the author. If the text is considered completely new, the next step concerns the evaluation by the executive editor of the following items:
Complete data on the author's connection to an institution, relevance of the topic to the magazine's objectives and its indexes; summary with all the requested data; keywords, originality, blind submission; application of the ABNT and the specific rules of the journal with respect to all items; Items with a maximum of two authors; relevance of the topic to the magazine's objectives and its indexes; scientific language, application of the grammatical rules of the English language, good vocabulary, adaptation and updating of the theoretical framework.
The article go the assessment process follows the principles of peer review. The process used is the double-blind evaluation, in which evaluators are not identified to authors and vice versa. In this submission stage, the editor indicates two referees of Editorial Board and ad hoc reviewers. In case of divergence in opinions, the text is sent to a third evaluator.
In the event of discrepancies between evaluators, the final decision is the editor. When changes are suggested, these will be forwarded to the authors and, after the corrections, the article may be forwarded to the evaluators to determine whether the requirements have been met. When the article is approved a specific e-mail’ll be sending sent to the author by communicating that his article will be published in the edition.
Evaluation criteria
The publication of articles will only occur with the approval of the referees. The following recommendations must be observed: originality in the treatment of the theme, the consistency and rigor of the approach, its contribution to the area or thematic line of the journal. The names of the evaluators will remain confidential, and the names of the authors will also be omitted from them.

Authors who publish in the Legal Journal of the Public Ministry of the State of Tocantins agree with the following terms:
- The authors retain the rights and grant the magazine the right to the first publication, simultaneously submitted to a Creative Commons license that allows sharing by third parties with the appropriate message to the author and the first publication by the Revista Jurídica do MPTO.
- Authors may enter into additional and separate contractual agreements for the non-exclusive distribution of the published version of the work (for example, posting it in an institutional repository or publishing it in a book), with acknowledgment of its initial publication in the Journal MPTO Legal.

Every semester. Published in the electronic version.
Open Access Policy
This journal grants free access to the content available for sharing and democratizing ok knowledde. Contents are achived to reader access and printing. The access policy is deposited in Sherpa/Romeo.
Archiving
The Journal uses the environment (OJS version 3.3), which allows integration with long-term preservation technologies for accessibility.
